WORK EXPERIENCE IN EDUCATION

Interim Special Services Director, Winooski School System- Winooski, VT.   Reorganizing special education system and bringing it into state and federal compliance.  2001-2002.

Director of Special Education, Windham Northeast Supervisory Union, Bellows Falls, VT. Worked for 9 schools with a staff of over 70 directing and coordinating all issues regarding special education. 1997- 2000.

Educational Exchange Specialist, University of Vermont, Burlington, VT.   Organized a U.S./China children's art exchange exhibit, a precursor to the establishment of an ongoing international children's art camp sponsored by the five participating universities. 1995-1996.

Adjunct Professor, Sacred Heart University, Fairfield, CT. 1994-1995.

Educational Coordinator, Green Cross International, Zurich, Switzerland. 1994-1996.

Education Coordinator, U.S.A. Global Green, Marina Del Ray, CA, 1994-1997.

Coordinator of Special Education Services, Windham Central Supervisory Union, Newfane, VT.   Designed and implemented the special education program for the ten schools of this district, directing a staff of six learning specialists, a guidance person, speech and language pathologists and para-professionals; originated the district plan, created the budget, and administrated prescribed processes for appropriation and utilization of state, federal, and local funding. 1979-1992.

Learning Specialist, Windham Central Supervisory Union, Newfane, VT.   Evaluated students, consulted with parents and teachers, and developed programs for special needs students in three different schools. 1977-1979.

Counselor for Alcohol and Drug Abuse, Windham Central Supervisory Union, Newfane, VT. Wrote and received a grant to counsel secondary school students with potential involvement in drugs and alcohol; acted as a liaison, connecting school, home and community; provided information, workshops, and parent support group services. 1976-1977.

Learning Disabilities Teacher, Windham Central Supervisory Union,   Brattleboro, VT.   Worked with individual students needing special education services. 1971-1972.

Teacher, Adams School, New York City, NY.   Taught the five most severely impaired children; each had been diagnosed as schizophrenic, autistic, or brain injured. 1964-1967.

Teacher-Therapist, Blueberry School, Brooklyn, NY.   Lived and worked with severely emotionally disturbed children in a therapeutic environment. 1963-1964.

Steering Committee, International Conference on Tourism and Spirituality, Assisi, Italy for IIPT, 2001.

Facilitator, CTAUN Conference.   For Middle school teachers on UN projects.   Creating a Culture of Peace, 2000.

Board Member, Children Uniting Nations.   Planning Earth Day celebration, UN children's event for UN Millennium Summit, and establishment of permanent children's UN. 1999-2000.

Representative/Organizer, Dhammakaya Foundation for NGOs and program for youth in
Thailand on Day of the Buddha. 2000.

Speaker, Legion of GoodWill at Brazil's Millennium New Year's conference on Spiritual Education. 2000.

National Advisory Board Member, Jimmy Hendrix Foundation, Seattle,WA., Worked to direct  funds for children's works across the USA. 1998.

Volunteer, Legion of Good Will, San Paolo, Brazil.   Developed a permanent Spiritual Forum at the United Nations in NYC. 1998.

School Board Member, Leland and Gray Union High School, Townshend, VT.   1994-1995.

Program Coordinator, Michael Jackson's Heal the World Foundation, Santa Barbara, CA.   Developed the program and coordinated international children's events. 1995.

Founding Member and Steering Committee, Global Alliance for Transforming Education,
Atlanta, GA, and Grafton, VT.   The organization promotes a vision of education that fosters personal greatness, social justice, peace and a sustainable environment. 1990-1996.

Facilitator,”Seeking the True Meaning of Peace,” San Jose, Costa Rica.   Facilitated a committee at this conference creating a “Declaration of Human Responsibilities” which was presented to the General Assembly of the U.N.   This conference generated the Global Education Project for Peace and Universal Responsibility, a curriculum framework for Peace Education. 1989.

Education Committee Chair, Campaign for the Earth, Sedona, AZ, and Goteborg, Sweden.  Chaired the committee, both at the U.S. conference in Sedona, and at the 1990 international conference in Sweden. 1989-1990.

Facilitator, Citizens for Soviet/American Dialogue, Summit Meeting, Moscow, Russia.  

Facilitated the Youth and Education Committee that worked on cooperatively developing innovative educational projects for our respective countries. 1989.
