Founder and President:  Nana Osei Boakyewa Yiadom II

A noted African leader and one of Ghana’s queen mothers, Nana Osei Boakyewa Yiadom II is the first among African women to be elected village chief.  She has dedicated her life to serving diverse people around the world.

Nana holds a Master of Arts degree from New York’s Queen’s College and is a fellow with the UN Institute for Training and Research, working on a project on refugee women.  She has served since 1986 as consultant on the UN Decade for Women, advisor of the Committee on African Women’s Affair, and president of the New-York-based Pan African Human Rights Association.

Based on her knowledge and working experience with women and children in Africa, and the impact of ethnic conflicts, she founded the Apeadu Children’s Peace Center to "build skills for self-sustenance, promote the issue of tolerance, and preserve and enhance the national culture, identity and tradition of Africa."
Vice-President:  Nina Lynn Meyerhof

Nina Lynn Meyerhof, EdD, has made a career of advocating for children locally and globally.  She served over fifteen years as a public school administrator in Vermont.  Dr. Meyerhof has two Master of Arts degrees, a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies, and holds a doctorate in Educational Policy, Research, and Administration.  The co-author of Conscious Education: The Bridge to Freedom, she is recognized as an innovative educator committed to global responsibility through authentic learning.

Dr. Meyerhof has developed a model to be used internationally that empowers young people to become informed young citizens and to commit to take action on the local, national, and international frontiers. The model includes a focus on spiritual and ethical personal development as well as becoming knowledgeable of other cultures and universal global needs. The Apeadu Children’s Peace Center is a pilot project for this concept, officially sponsored by Children of the Earth, a UN-NGO established by Nina to give youth a voice in creating the future.
